The Dispute Board Federation (DBF)

Annual Symposium 2010

The DBF feels that the role of ADR in the swift settlement of disputes in complex construction projects has gone by the wayside and has unfortunately evolved into a laborious, time consuming and very costly procedure far eclipsing that of the traditional method –– court litigation. This is not good for dispute resolvers and is particularly not good for society.
The DBF’s goals include effective rebuilding of immediate post-conflict countries which by its nature involves a combination of construction, diplomacy, risk management and an effective way to prevent disputes from arising during the process.
Of course Dispute Boards are one excellent solution to this possible problem. This year's Annual Symposium will probe all sides of the current ADR situation and the growth of Dispute Boards. In doing so, we hope to arrive at the optimum strategy for use by the DBF and its partner organisations in the resolution of disputes on infrastructure projects. This will then allow for the effective delivery of those projects within the necessary time constraints and within the prescribed budgets.
